Bharati Vidyapeeth College of engineering

Bharati Vidyapeeth is a Deemed university and a group of higher educational institutions located in Pune, India. It was established in 1964 by Indian politician and educationist Patangrao Kadam. Bharati Vidyapeeth has campuses across the country at New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Sangli, Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur, Karad, Satara, and Panchgani. It runs more than 78 schools and 60 institutions of higher education, including those of professional education. Among these are colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Management, Hotel Management, Catering Technology, Environment Science and Agriculture etc. On April 26, 1996 the Government of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, granted the status of "Deemed to be University" to a cluster of 12 institutions of Bharati VidyapeethBharati Vidyapeeth had a very humble beginning. It was around 1963, when he was still a part-time school teacher that Patangrao Kadam was disturbed on seeing that not many Maharashtrian students could get admissions to national level institutions such as National Defence Academy or clear competitive examinations. He noted that the reason was a relatively weak foundation of these students in subjects such as English and Mathematics. The organisation was founded with the aim to bring about "intellectual awakening of people through the spread of education" and to "prepare human resources needed for all round development, particularly economic, of the country". Bharati Vidyapeeth, since its inception, started conducting competitive examinations for school going children in the area. This subsequently became its major activity, which still continues.

My experience as an alumnus of BVP COE (2018) compels me to share a candid perspective. If I could rate below one star, I would. The educational standards at the college are abysmal, leading to dismal placement opportunities. Renowned companies I've worked for, like Citi, Bank of America, IBM, TCS, Nomura, do not consider BVP when recruiting. Students resort to 'Nirali,' a local collection of previous question papers, reflecting the lack of academic rigor. The college's business strategy seems to involve failing a percentage of the class to profit from revaluation fees, a steep 30-40% of annual fees, and an additional year's fee for reappearing. This likely contributes to their absence from top 100 colleges lists. The overall experience, including subpar stay facilities, dealing with brokers and unruly landlords, and enduring outsider treatment from the administration, professors, and exam department, is far from satisfactory. This trend has persisted for 17 years without improvement. Dealing with an SBI administration, despite its bureaucratic challenges, seems more preferable than the BVP staff's regional mentality. The adage 'All's well that ends well' does not apply here, given the subpar placements. As an alum, my advice is to steer clear and invest your effort and money wisely elsewhere
